Body Awareness & Symptoms as a way to Integrating Healing
In December I had the opportunity to do some more professional training for body talk or somatics.
It is a type of experiential psychotherapy that is grounded in a mindfulness approach to understanding ourselves. Psychology is intimate with our health. I have studied psychology, meditation, older traditions of healing, mindfulness and somatic practices for the last 35 years.
It is an important part of my foundations as a homeopath to be in tune with myself and also to be with others in a curious and compassionate space, where therapeutically we work together to see and resolve patterns that may be recurring and keep producing signals, physical symptoms, emotional states and more, that get your attention.
Somatics is all about the body and how it talks. Essentially it is our most intelligent system designed to work even when we are offline, always working towards optimal health & function, whether we sleep, dream, stay busy to be distracted, the body knows how to tell us we are in pain, or in doubt or in crisis or in a harmonious space. Mostly, when we are in good health, we are continually working silently to stay in balance.
When the pain is too much or the emotion is overwhelming, the body simply will not relax, it is calling you, getting your attention.
That is the perfect time to find some assistance. The innate somatic intelligence workshop was specifically tailored for chronic stress disorders and post traumatic stress, which has become a very communal experience.
In a typical homeopathic consultation where there is trauma and deep experiences that do not abate, there is an opportunity.
Homeopaths listen intently to the body and all the signals; physical, mental, emotional, dreams, and more. There is time for awakening and awareness.
The exchange in the consultation is often experienced as releasing and integrating. Learning and growth comes with renewed tools and capacities for the journey as well as tips when to use your own resources to move through previously uncomfortable stuck experiences.
Finally a remedy is prescribed to assist with the innate healing capacities.
This immersive consultation style is wholistic. It is a sensitive approach where the time & experiences shared in consultation permit a gentle, respectful and often humorous exchange.
We are much more aware and intelligent than AI loaded with conscious & unconscious capacities. We have all the technology we need in our bodies to be aware, be content and be well within.
