Getting Yourself Through Winter
Winter can challenge our well-being with its relentless colds and coughs, but a balanced blend of homeopathy, nutrition, and herbal remedies can empower you to thrive through the chill. In this post, discover natural strategies and comforting recipes designed to keep you resilient all season long.
HOMEOPATHY
We are certainly seeing a lot of coughs, colds, fevers, croup and flu that are needing quite a bit of help this season as many are becoming unwell when they don’t normally. Remedies in our Emergency Kits and Care Pack have a number of remedies to help such as Hepar sulph which is great when there is a lot of mucus, sore throats especially when warm drinks soothe your throat and lungs. Some people prefer cold drinks, even ice cold drinks for a sore throat which would indicate remedies such as Phosphorus or Ars alb.
Many people are experiencing frontal headaches, pain on the right side under the ribs and or feeling nauseous and not wanting to eat much at all. Nux vom which is in our kits as well is great for this. If you are unsure what to take, Leiah, Kate and Mark and are here to help guide you through.
NUTRITION
It’s really important to keep up good nutrition through good healthy food but during winter to help avoid some of these bugs going around at the moment we recommend supporting your immune system with the following. Milk Thistle is great for those with frontal headaches, feeling nauseous or just don’t feel like eating, indicating a compromised liver. Milk thistle is safe for young ones through to the elderly.
Vit D liquid drops or sprays
Probiotic powder or chewable
Metazinc with C powder
NAC
Quercetin
ENT care for kids or Super mushroom powder
Kali Mur Tissue Salts sprays or tablets
Milk Thistle Capsules
HERBAL MEDICINE
Herbs are a beautiful addition to your remedy list as they support your organ systems at a very deep level. Vital Potions have Herbal Teas such as Kid’s Cough Tonic that even fussy kids will drink. The flavour of all of the teas is fairly bland so add some honey (a great natural antibiotic, antiviral on it’s own) and or some lemon if you enjoy that. For those not so fussy about flavour, Vital Potions has herbal tonics to support even the nastiest lung conditions. For those kids who don’t like the taste of herb mixes, there is an Organic Cough Syrup by Kiwi Herbs that kids actually love.
FOOD
When you are unwell we naturally don’t feel like eating much as the body needs all it’s energy just to heal. There are some great foods such as a broth soup, bone broth or vegan broth is great as it is very easy to digest and packed full of nutrition. Great for kids and adults.
As the cold season winds down, remember that a little self-care with time-tested natural remedies and nourishing foods can make all the difference. Embrace these holistic tips and recipes to transform winter’s challenges into a journey toward lasting wellness.
