Happy Hormones, Sad Hormones, Who bloody knows Hormones!!

So my gal pals lets talk hormones… our amazing little friends who you wouldn’t even want to imagine life without BUT will leave you driving along the freeway ugly crying to a sad song that reminds you of an ex on the way home to a junk food binge and any movie with Ryan Renolds in it!!

With our poor male counterparts and their steady stream of testosterone keeping them level headed through the month, often being left baffled and sometimes outright afraid of our every changing emotions and accusing eyes, what they (and I think even us women) don’t realise sometimes is that it is often our hormonal surges that are the drivers seat steering our every emotional move.

One thing I have truly realised and accepted on my exciting hormonal journey through puberty and my sassy twenties, pregnancy and postpartum, and now into the exciting yet daunting world of perimenopause as I hit 41 years young, is that we should never try to fight, supress or work against the female hormonal cycle.

We must do all we can to support and enhance the hormonal ebbs and flows of this glorious cycle that helps us transition through every stage of life, as that is all she has ever wanted to do and although she can sometimes get it wrong, it is often the fault of our highly toxic, medically suppressive and rushing world that we all live in.

And the most wonderful thing about the human body is how easily we can bring all of our natural cycles back into alignment through the simplest of treatments, and the hormonal cycle it is no different - homeopathics, herbs and minerals, diet modification, exercise especially muscle building, intermittent fasting like a girl of course (ask me about this), sleep health, yoga and of course stress management.

And lets not forget, it is no co-incidence that the moon cycle is the same time as our monthly period cycle… so embrace the magic and enjoy the flow.
